Back to Life, Back to Reality

We’re back for our “second semester” of this podcast! Lots of transition on our end. Sarah moved to a new town and Liz is mourning the loss of her fun-girl summer. And we know that getting back into the habit of “college” is a transition, too. Even if you were counting down the days to get back on campus, switching from home to school can be stressful. We wanted to share our top 3 tips (and a bonus tip) for getting back into the swing of things:

In this episode you’ll hear ways to:

  1. Check your balance - Too much time with friends? Not enough? Hear ways to get back on track.

  2. Get ahead while you can - Don’t do what Sarah did. Procrastination is a fun-killer. Now’s the time to set yourself up for a successful semester.

  3. Give yourself a social gut check - Each year of college has a different “vibe” with friends. We talk about ways to check in on how your friendships are impacting you, and what you can do to make a shift if you need one.

And since we just can’t help ourselves, we wanted to share our P.O.I.S.E. skill. While it’s not specific to transitions, it’s just too helpful not to share right away.

We noticed that this episode references a lot of earlier shows that might be helpful, particularly if we skimmed over something that you wanted to know more about. Here are episodes that go into more detail about the skills we cover:

Episode 1: Beginner’s Mind

Episodes 2-3: Finding Balance in the Extremes

Episodes 4-6: Navigating Social Relationships/Social Anxiety (particularly helpful for freshman)

Episodes 22-23: Managing Sleep in College

And if you just *need* to hear the song Sarah sang on the episode, here you go:
